Happy Families

Happy Families past production

Happy Families — a John Godber classic — took our audience back to John's graduation day in 1978 as he relived his adventurous teenage years from 1967-1973. A mixture of humour, warmth and understanding, the Yorkshire playwright gave our audience something they could all relate to, portrayed beautifully by the actors as they appeared to move effortlessly from scene to scene.

The whole ambience of the play was influenced by sleek lighting and sound, and a simple, but cleverly designed set. Of course the actors were not given an easy task as they performed on one of the hottest days on record! Luckily our signature ice creams were on sale!

Thank you to our audience for their continued support and lovely feedback.

Shake, Ripple & Roll

Shake, Ripple and Roll past production

Our Youth section's production of Shake, Ripple & Roll was a wonderful and exuberant celebration of song and dance.

Set in a 1950's New York American diner, the audience were introduced to all the amazing characters which the children portrayed brilliantly.

Selling ice creams, drinks, and popcorn at the interval all added to the success of of our summer production.

Jack & the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk past production

Jack & the Beanstalk, written by our very own talented Paul Tattersfield, was a huge success once again, bringing in sell-out audiences. The show had everything for the young and old — singing, dancing, comedy sketches, plenty of jokes, and a spectacular finale, culminating in a standing ovation on the final performance.

Priory Players would like to thank our audience for their continued support, and helping make our pantomimes the success they are. A huge thank you also to our cast and crew, and everybody involved, for their dedication to Priory and delivering another first-class production.

Stags & Hens

Stags and Hens past production

Breaking new ground, we've served up an "Autumn production" this year. "Stags and Hens - The Remix" by the ever popular Willy Russell (writer of "Educating Rita" and "Blood Brothers") was performed at Ossett Town Hall at the end of October.

A lively and coarse comedy set in a trashy disco's toilets in 1970s Liverpool, saw the bride-to-be Linda embroiled in wedding night nerves. When the Stag party and ex-boyfriend appear at the same nightclub, decisions have to be made that will have repercussions for the bride and groom to be!!

The subject matter was different, the Scouse accent hard to perfect and the staging was challenging to bring together, but all of that didn't phase the fantastic cast and backstage crew who delivered in incredible fashion and enjoyed a sold out Friday night with a rapturous standing ovation. This is hopefully just the first of many adult Autumn productions to add to an ever growing repertoire.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs past production

Snow White has been a firm favourite of Priory Players, and we have always enjoyed performing this very popular pantomime to our audience. This year we had record ticket sales with an amazing 1000 people in our audience across our Saturday performances. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful Youth section, who are very dedicated to Priory, with many being involved from the age of seven and are still 'treading the boards' at the age of seventeen. Well done to everyone involved on stage, back stage and front of house. And finally, a massive thank you to our audiences for your continued support.

Funny Money

Funny Money past production

One of our most recent productions was Funny Money, a comedy about Mr Henry A. Perkins, an accountant who accidentally grabs the wrong briefcase on his commute home from work and finds it full of cash. Mr Perkins decides to keep the briefcase and make plans to jet off to Barcelona with his wife, paying off anybody who gets in his way.

We had lots of fun performing this show, and even won a few awards along the way!

Beauty & The Beast

Beauty and the Beast past production

January 2017 saw the arrival of a pantomime favourite at Ossett Town Hall, Beauty & The Beast. As well as a few cast members trying different roles, Ciaran Keddy joined the group and made his debut as the Beast. Well done to all involved on and off stage for another excellent production.

Peter Pan

Pater Pan past production

In June 2016 we took our audience on a journey with Peter Pan and the Lost Boys in an adventure to the island of Never Land. We challenged ourselves in different ways with this show, particularly back stage with complex scenery and pulley mechanics for the flight scenes. Well done to cast, crew and everybody involved for another successful Priory Players production.
